Developed a problem with your eyes?
We participate in MECS, the minor eye care conditions service. That means if you suddenly have a problem with your eyes, whether soreness, inflammation or issues with your vision, we’ll do our best to assess the problem as soon as possible and either reassure you, provide an eye test, treat you, or refer you for further help.
Glasses need a bit of TLC?
We’ll make adjustments and repairs to your glasses at any time – wherever you bought them. However, as we’re often fully booked, making an appointment will avoid disappointment!
Audiology service
We can also take care of your hearing, with hearing tests and access to high-quality hearing aids and helpful treatments, such as ear wax removal, which could improve your hearing.

Used Bayfields for the first time recently after my previous optician retired. Very friendly and helpful when I called for an appointment and booked me in straight away. Had my test and picked out my new glasses and shades. The staff and optician were again very helpful and friendly all sort in quick time. My glasses were ready in under a week. Just need to nip back in for a tweak on my sunglasses so they fit more comfortably. Have already recommended family to go there moving forward and they will now be my opticians moving forward. 😃👍🏻
Recently went here for an eye test and new glasses. The staff were friendly, extremely knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to help me. Plenty of different types and styles of glasses to choose from and all at great prices. I would wholeheartedly recommend Bayfields. Definitely glad I didn't go to Specsavers!
Appointment arranged without a significant delay and, as usual, tests conducted professionally and with a full explanation of what was happening and precisely what the results meant for me. I was asked what particular tasks were causing me difficulties and ( following more tests) suggestions were made as to what most the most helpful lens prescription would be. I look forward to getting my new gasses with 'bated breath, I just wish they could stop me loosing the bloody things!
I'm only giving 5 stars because I can't give more. The staff are friendly and professional. The person who did the test explained what was happening and why in both the normal and OCT test. All my questions were answered about my results in an understandable way. Perfect. They have a surprisingly large selection of frames for such a small space. The shop is clean and tidy and has seats for those waiting.
Always made to feel welcome and relaxed. Very good eye tests and all fully explained. Definitely recommend.
